Inspired by 'The Big Notebook' by Ágota Kristóf.
Against the horrific backdrop of World War II, two brothers, abandoned by their mother, temper their bodies and psyches to withstand the harshest trials. In their notebooks, they train themselves to write down what they see in the world, in the protagonists' desperate search for a mythological 'truth of facts' that is narratable, for a logical order of things that helps justify events and for an apparent balance of the world. Narrative time is confused. The lies of memory are often survival: theirs is a recreation of their own biography in order not to crumble, to ward off pain, to build an identity.
