SUSANNA BELTRAMI

Her name appeared as early as 1986, when on her return from the Merce Cunningham Foundation in New York, she became one of the major choreographers marking an important beginning for contemporary dance in Italy. She immediately received teaching and management positions in the most important choreographic training centres in northern Italy, and at the same time proved to be a pioneer of modern and contemporary dance in Italy through her innovative choreographic work open to contamination between different artistic worlds.

In 1998 she founded, with the étoile Luciana Savignano, the Compagnia Pier Lombardo Danza (previously subsidised by the FUS) - today the Compagnia Susanna Beltrami - based in Milan. In 2006 she founded and directs DanceHaus Susanna Beltrami, currently recognised as a Professional Training Body accredited by the Lombardy Region. The flagship of the dance community is the Susanna Beltrami Academy, a path of excellence for choreographic training.

Susanna Beltrami, whose name is strictly linked to nonconformist performances, persists tracing the path of contamination between art and show.

Susanna Beltrami's creation moves between the lines of Josephine Hart's novel and the film directed by Louis Malle.

A middle-aged man is tormented by memories, by guilt caused by the torrid affair he had with his daughter-in-law and the subsequent death of their son.

A forbidden relationship that unmasks the true nature of the two lovers. But it is also a love story steeped in madness, death and mystery, where the two protagonists are both victims and executioners of their destiny.

In this reinterpretation, the protagonist's son returns transfigured in different forms, renewing traumas and guilt that cannot be erased.

A challenge by two great dance artists Manuela Montanari and Antonino Sutera, first dancers of the Teatro alla Scala.

BALLADE

A lonely wandering in the outskirts of the city, a ballad, a drunk walk that becomes a desperate run, a scream that tears the rainy night. An original rewrite in a “street-romantic” key starting from The Night just before the forest of B. M. Koltès. A meeting between choreography, corporeality, word and sound to sing the song of the man Koltès that is inexorably approaching the end of his life. The song of all those who have been relegated to the margins, in that space “just before” which is a physical and existential place.

Cesare Picco, an internationally renowned composer and concert performer, signs the musical creation, almost 20 years after Lupa, for which he signed the music, a return together, a new dialogue between music and dance.
