ASSOCIATED ARTISTS
VIDAVÈ was born in 2020 and is the choreographic project of Noemi Dalla Vecchia and Matteo Vignali, choreographers and freelance dancers. Both devote in-depth research on street and urban dances in contamination with the aesthetics of contemporary dance. They are associated artists of DANCEHAUSpiù Milan, and of the national production organisation Movimento Danza in Naples. Their works have been selected by the national network Anticorpi XL, presented in numerous Italian and European festivals, obtaining awards such as the ADEB Udine 2021 prize, the mention at Theodor Rawyler 2021, the Prospettiva Danza Teatro 2021 prize, Linkage Competition 2022, the Residanza 2022 prize, the final at SoloTanz Festival 2023.
SPOKEN DANCE
Stimmung and Figure Coreografiche are two creations that are part of the research project Spoken Dance, a container of choreographic experimentations that investigate possible hybridisations between voice and body, between spoken language and language of movement, with original dramaturgies and aesthetics. This project on spoken dance and/or danced word started in 2023, will be articulated with different actions of study and composition over a wide time span, with the aim of building solid choreographic tools to support the identity of VIDAVÈ.

Dancing on the qualities of the voice and phonetics of spoken language, Stimmung represents the investigation of the emotional content of the human being, through the use of the instrument body-voice. The performers, moving with verses and vocalisations, try to connect to their own identity and emotionality, following the sound and vibratory path of the voice that starts from the movement of the breath and evolves to the complex movements of the phonatory apparatus. The meditative and instinctive monologues will then give way to more than comprehensible dialogues, where the voice becomes important as an end and not as a means, rising to a universal expression of energy.

The creation compares some rhetorical figures of the spoken language, to modes of choreographic composition in dance, with the intention of constructing a personal system for interpreting images, sensations and emotions, starting from written texts. A series of voices of singer-songwriters, actors and poets annoyingly interfere with the flow of movement of two dancers, so much so that they are forced to question the effect of their gesture on the audience. Through a self-ironic dialogue full of artifice, the authors seek the balance between functionality and expressiveness in performance, seriously reflecting on the sense of responsibility of the artist who creates for the other.

The thoughts of a maniac of protagonism move according to an illogical logic, flaunting authoritarian postures even when the body seems to reveal something else. With this solo, a fanatical orator compares himself to the character of the witch in the Grimm Brothers' fairy tale, embodying, however, an even more contemporary concept of wickedness, namely the dominant single-mindedness. His magic is to deviously mould the ideas of all men without receiving opposition strong enough to break its spell. The sorcerer's hands and gestures seek to fascinate and enchant observers in an attempt to gain approval, sometimes interfering with his own desire to dominate, emphasising the self-destructive aspect of his behaviour.

Inspired by the famous fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, fluid characters find themselves lost in an unknown dimension in which they will have to face their insecurities and fears. The protagonists through unconscious play embark on a journey that can only further the development of their consciousness, which arises within an inexhaustible dialectic with its unconscious matrix. The story foregrounds the difficulties of the emotional bonds between the members of a present-day family, as well as telling of poverty and hunger, which serve as a metaphor for a society caught between being and having. The narrative finds its end in the bodily dimension of the stomach where sensations and emotions are inseparable.

Articulated in the dynamics of a relationship between a man and a woman, small and natural daily events that inevitably influence the relationship, show how it is transformed. Time does not become an effort but also a place where everything takes place, where everything changes constantly without man or woman noticing. The little moments when partners become aware of their change become important revelations for the audience. Revelations that will show the issues that any loving couple will sooner or later face. In these moments, both can do nothing but rediscover themselves, inevitably writing another piece of history.
